Norman Pickens Jr., P.E.

Norman Pickens’ career in the electric power industry spans more than 20 years and demonstrates a proven track record of achievement and success with extensive experience with all phases of engineering and construction of combustion and steam turbine applications. His experience includes a variety of both heavy duty and aero-derivative combustion turbines. Mr. Pickens has served in many functions with increasing levels of responsibility from a Mechanical Engineer to a Principal Project Engineer. On numerous power generation and cogeneration projects, Mr. Pickens has been directly involved in leading the conceptual design, thermal design, preparation of the design control specification and other project control documents as well as leading the overall design engineering effort. He also has experience on projects involving the removal and replacement of combustion turbine regenerators. As a Senior Staff Engineer, he has worked on international projects in England, The Netherlands, Turkey and Canada.

Mr. Pickens also has experience in the procurement of major equipment, evaluation and selection of EPC contractors and field oversight of EPC contractors. He has extensive experience in pipe stress analysis and is very knowledgeable in the use of piping codes B31.1 and B31.3.

Mr. Pickens holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry from Alcorn State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with studies in Nuclear Engineering from Tuskegee Institute of Technology
