Harold B. Burnham

Harold Burnham’s career in the energy spans over 35 years and includes experience in both the petrochemical and electric power industries. Mr. Burnham has extensive experience in all forms of electric power generation including fossil fuel, nuclear, and biomass. He has worked in the regulated and non-regulated sectors of the power industry, and has been actively involved in the merchant power market since its inception. His areas of expertise include business development, project conceptual design and project management. Mr. Burnham is a frequent speaker and delegate at many electric power conferences, and is frequently sought out for power solution recommendations and direction.

In both the domestic and foreign markets, Mr. Burnham initiated and completed numerous inside-the-fence cogeneration projects. These projects, ranging in size from 50 to 1,200 MW, have provided steam and power to a diverse group of host facilities in the pulp and paper, petrochemical, food and beverage, and metals refining industries.

In his recent position with Duke Energy North America, Mr. Burnham was responsible for the asset management of Duke’s fleet of merchant power plants which had a combined operating capacity in excess of 15,000 MW, with an additional 4,000 MW under construction. He also directed all group activities related to the acquisition and divestiture of Duke’s energy interests, which included both foreign and domestic projects. In addition, Mr. Burnham managed his Duke’s interests in the waste-to-energy industry.

Mr. Burnham was recruited by CRSS, Inc. to create the business development group for the Power Division at CRSS. This division provided engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services to a diverse base of industrial and utility clientele. As a result of his leadership of the business development group, the CRSS Power Division grew into a large and profitable engineering and construction entity with contacts totaling more than $1.2 billon.

Earlier in his career Mr. Burnham worked with General Electric’s Nuclear Energy Division. His project assignments included the BWR Nuclear Steam Supply System installations at Monticello, MN, Peachbottom, PA, Millstone, CT, Vermont Yankee, VT and Pilgrim, MA. He subsequently worked in several management positions with Fischbach Corporation.

Mr. Burnham attended Ft. Lewis College in Durango, CO.
